Dr. Barbara Rutsey

Dr. Rutsey earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in 1985 and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1989, both from Michigan State University.  She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr Rutsey enjoyed working in mixed animal practice before joining Union Lake in 1995.  She has a passion for surgery, with special interests in abdominal  ultrasound and internal medicine.

Outside of veterinary work, she supports the World Wildlife Fund and the Christian Veterinary Mission.  She and her husband lead a mission team to remote Kenya each October, supporting the local doctors in medical outreach.  While not working, you may find them spending time in the outdoors on his Indian motorcycle or on the trails in her Jeep. They also enjoy time with their dogs, cats and rabbit at their home in the country.
